How to turn a classic children’s game into a sport? The founders of World Chase Tag understood this. Watch the video above to find out their story.

The brothers Christian Devaux and Damien Devaux are founded World Hunting Beacon after being inspired by their own tag games in Windsor, UK. From there he went from being a hobby to a sport with a pool of athletic talent – parkour athletes – that had long been overlooked. Now there are strategies, tag-specific terminology, and even a media infrastructure surrounding the classic playground game. Commentators dissect YouTube strategies and sport has made its mark Television debuts in America.

The strategies for World Chase Tag draw from the tradition of parkour but also from influences as varied as ball sports and gymnastics. It’s a game that quickly develops vocabulary, from “slow motion” to “herd”, as well as unique personalities.

But as the video above shows, it all stems from that initial passion for a backyard game that was exciting enough to become a sport watched by millions of people.
