The pillow fight is now a professional sport

Think you can beat someone in pillow fight? Reuters reports that this classic sleepover activity is now a professional sport.

The very first Pillow Fight Championship or PFC will air on January 29, 2022. It will be a live pay-per-view event to be held in Florida. PFC CEO Steve Williams said this event will have all the excitement of hand-to-hand combat, minus all the injuries and blood.

Make no mistake about it though. According to ReutersWilliams says the event won’t be all fun and laughs. He says the competitors, who are mostly from MMA fighting and boxing, will use specialty pillows for “hardcore swing”.

Williams is hoping the new professional sport will reach new audiences, because the act of pillow fighting is much less violent than boxing, and it’s more relevant, too. He calls it an “alternative sport”.

The event will be available to watch on the sports streaming platform FITE.
